Easy Alternatives!

I wrote a story last year as we were starting out with this website, entitled Creative Alternatives. It reflected on why a vegan life was so important, to the animals, to your health, and to the planet as a whole. The opportunity to share ways of making it easier for people to live a kinder, more mindful life has been a motivating force for me daily! Social media has been a powerful force this past year in spreading awareness of the atrocities of the animal agricultural industry and change is, thankfully, happening at a rapid pace, as consumers make better choices, for themselves and the world! Accessible alternatives and new ideas are springing up in vast numbers, making transitioning so much easier! (Oat milk, flax seed “eggs”, smoky tempeh, and aquafaba have been wonderful additions to our lives this year!) Those Fluffy Apple Crumble Pancakes above are seriously fluffy, delicious and vegan! You really won’t be missing out on anything and your body and heart will thank you! Every plant-based choice saves lives and makes yours better!

It is so much easier now to find processed, plant-based foods that are convenient and tasty. You can find what you want in your closest grocery store! Be adventurous and try some new products! At the same time, remember that making your own food, with ingredients you can be confident about, is so rewarding, if a little more time-consuming. On this website, I am focusing on trying to create most of the basics, while at the same time recognizing that some short cuts make life easier! There are lots of great vegan products out there; use them when you need them! For example, puff pastry and phyllo pastry are very time-consuming and much easier to buy than make.(Just read the labels for any added egg or dairy; most are “accidentally vegan”.) I have used them in a number of delicious recipes!


I really missed lemon pie, but now, after some experimentation, I have vanilla coconut whipped cream and wonderful vegan lemon curd, no eggs or dairy needed!

Use the power of information at your fingertips to discover how to best meet your nutritional needs through plant-based meals; it’s not difficult and the results are worth it on so many levels! As cow’s milk is no longer a recommended drink, escape from the well-documented addiction we have to dairy products and discover how delicious and easy it really is to make your own dairy-free cream cheeze, parmesan cheeze, Caesary Dressing, or cheeze sauce.
